Possible Causes
Blocked defrost drain hole, Frozen drain tube in cabinet, Debris in drain trap, Cracked drain funnel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing interior panels. Use towels to catch water.
Steps:
- 1. Locate leak source: Check if water is pooling under the crisper drawers or dripping from the freezer compartment.
- 2. Access evaporator drain: Remove the rear interior panel in the freezer to expose the evaporator and drain trough.
- 3. Clear drain hole: Use a turkey baster or squeeze bottle with hot (not boiling) water to flush the drain hole until water flows freely to the drain pan under the unit.
- 4. Clean drain tube: From the back of the refrigerator, remove the drain tube leading to the drain pan. Clean it with hot water and a flexible brush if needed.
- 5. Reinstall and test: Reassemble panels, plug in the unit, and monitor for leaks over the next 24–48 hours.
