Possible Causes
Warped or torn door gasket, Dirty gasket sealing surface, Misaligned door hinges, Sagging door due to heavy items
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep the unit plugged in but avoid prolonged door openings to maintain temperature.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect gasket: Look for tears, gaps, or hardened sections of the door gasket. Close the door on a sheet of paper; if it pulls out easily, the seal is weak in that area.
- 2. Clean gasket and frame: Use warm soapy water to clean the gasket and the mating surface on the cabinet. Dry thoroughly.
- 3. Warm and reshape: Use a hair dryer on low to gently warm warped sections of the gasket and pull them into shape so they contact the frame.
- 4. Adjust door hinges: If the door is sagging, adjust the top hinge screws to raise or level the door so the gasket contacts evenly.
- 5. Replace gasket: If the gasket is torn or will not seal, order and install a new OEM door gasket for your Kenmore model.
