Possible Causes
Incorrect or non-OEM water filter, Filter not fully seated, Faulty filter head sensor, Control board flow meter logic error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off water supply if removing the filter head or internal lines.
Steps to resolve:
- Replace filter: Install a genuine KitchenAid water filter. Push firmly until it locks in place.
- Reset filter indicator: Press and hold the filter reset button (or measured fill) per your user manual until the indicator resets.
- Check for leaks: After replacement, run 2–3 gallons of water through the dispenser to purge air and check for leaks.
If E17 persists with a correct filter installed, the filter head assembly or internal sensor may be faulty and should be inspected and replaced by a technician.
