Possible Causes
Recent power outage, Door left open after power restored, Warm food loaded immediately after outage, High ambient room temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This is an informational alert, not an electrical fault. You can safely clear it yourself.
Steps to resolve:
- Check food safety: If the refrigerator or freezer has been above 40°F (4°C) for more than 2 hours, discard perishable items (meat, dairy, leftovers).
- Verify cooling: Close all doors and let the unit run for 4–6 hours. Confirm that the freezer reaches 0°F (-18°C) and the fresh food section reaches 37–40°F (3–4°C).
- Clear the PO code: Press and hold the “Measure Fill” or “Alarm Reset” button (varies by model) for 3–5 seconds until the alert stops and the display returns to normal.
- Check door seals: Inspect the door gaskets for gaps or debris. Clean with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly to ensure a tight seal.
- Avoid overloading: Do not pack warm food tightly against the air vents; leave space for air circulation.
If the PO alert returns without any new outage, unplug the refrigerator for 5 minutes to reset the control. If it persists, the control may be misreading power events and should be checked by a technician.
