Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coils, Failed condenser fan motor, Refrigerator pushed too close to wall, High ambient room temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning coils or accessing the rear compartment.
Steps to resolve:
- Clean condenser coils: Remove the lower front grille or rear access panel. Use a coil brush and vacuum to remove dust and pet hair from the coils.
- Check condenser fan: With power restored, verify that the fan near the compressor runs whenever the compressor runs. If not, the fan motor may be faulty.
- Improve ventilation: Pull the refrigerator away from the wall to provide at least 1–2 inches of clearance at the back and sides, and more at the top if possible.
If temperatures do not improve after cleaning and ensuring proper airflow, further diagnosis of the sealed system and controls by a technician is recommended.
