Possible Causes
Ice clumped together in bin, Broken auger or drive coupling, Stripped auger motor gears, Ice chute door stuck closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing the ice bin or working near the auger.
- Check for clumping: Remove the ice bin and break up any clumped ice. Discard old ice and allow fresh ice to form.
- Inspect auger: Look for cracks in the auger or broken drive coupling at the back of the bin.
- Test auger motor: With the bin removed and door switch held closed, briefly activate the dispenser to see if the auger motor shaft turns. If not, the motor may be faulty.
- Replace parts: Replace the ice bin/auger assembly or auger motor as needed.
