Possible Causes
Faulty refrigerator or freezer thermistor, Poor thermistor placement (not clipped properly), Main control board temperature logic fault, Door gasket leaks causing long run times
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before accessing sensors or control boards.
- Verify settings: Ensure temperature settings are at recommended levels (typically 37–39°F for fridge, 0°F for freezer).
- Check door seals: Inspect gaskets for gaps or tears. Close a sheet of paper in the door; if it pulls out easily, the seal may be weak.
- Inspect thermistors: Locate and ensure each thermistor is properly clipped to its mounting point and not dangling.
- Test thermistors: Measure resistance at known temperatures and compare to LG specs. Replace any sensor out of range.
- Control board: If sensors and gaskets are good but temperature swings persist, the main PCB may need replacement.
