Possible Causes
Seized evaporator fan motor, Ice buildup blocking fan blades, Broken fan blade, Faulty fan motor driver on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power. Be careful of sharp plastic edges and metal fins.
Step-by-step:
- Identify which fan: Determine whether the error relates to the refrigerator fan, freezer fan, or NoFrost fan (check user manual or where the noise/airflow issue is).
- Access fan: Remove shelves/drawers and the rear inner panel in the affected compartment to expose the fan assembly.
- Check for ice obstruction: If the fan is encased in ice, defrost the area gently with warm air. Do not force the fan blades.
- Spin test: With power still off, try turning the fan blades by hand. They should spin freely. If stiff or jammed, the motor is likely faulty.
- Electrical check: Inspect the fan wiring and connector. Look for burnt pins or loose contacts.
- Replace fan motor: If seized or noisy, replace the fan motor assembly with a Liebherr-specific evaporator fan unit. Transfer any gaskets or ducts from the old unit.
- Reassemble and test: Refit panels, restore power, and confirm that airflow and noise are normal and that F5 does not reappear.
