Display shows dF and the unit may be in or reporting a defrost cycle.

Safety first: No immediate disassembly is required. Do not repeatedly power-cycle during defrost.

Steps:

• Wait for cycle completion: Many Magic Chef models briefly display dF during an automatic defrost cycle. This is normal and should clear within 20–40 minutes.
• Check for heavy frost: If dF remains for hours and the freezer back wall is heavily frosted, manually defrost the unit by unplugging and leaving doors open until all ice melts.
• Inspect defrost components: If the code persists after manual defrost, follow the defrost heater and sensor troubleshooting steps (see E3 and E4 scenarios).
