Possible Causes
Failed condenser fan motor, Obstruction preventing fan blade rotation, Loose or burnt fan wiring, Faulty main control board fan driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the rear compartment.
Steps:
- Access the condenser fan: Remove the rear lower access panel. The condenser fan is located near the compressor and condenser coils.
- Check for obstructions: Spin the fan blade by hand. Remove any debris, dust, or insulation blocking movement. The blade should spin freely.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure the fan motor connector is fully seated and wires are not cut or burnt.
- Test the motor: If you have a multimeter, check for proper voltage at the fan connector when the unit is powered and calling for cooling (use extreme caution if testing live). If voltage is present but the fan does not run, the motor is likely bad.
- Replace the fan motor: Remove mounting screws, disconnect the wiring, and install a Magic Chef-compatible condenser fan motor. Reuse or replace the fan blade as needed.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the access panel, restore power, and verify the fan runs when the compressor is on. The E7 code should clear.
