Possible Causes

Open or shorted freezer thermistor, Damaged wiring harness, Faulty main control board input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the freezer rear panel.

Steps:

  • Inspect freezer thermistor: As in E2, locate the sensor on or near the evaporator. Check for physical damage or disconnection.
  • Test and replace: Measure resistance and compare to expected values. Replace with a Magic Chef-compatible thermistor if readings are abnormal.
  • Check wiring: Inspect and test continuity of the harness back to the control board.
  • Control board: If sensor and wiring are good, the main control board may need replacement.
