Display shows E3; ice production may be erratic or temperatures may not match setpoints.

Safety: Disconnect power before accessing any internal wiring.

• Identify sensor location: On some Maytag models, the E3 code refers to an ambient or cabinet thermistor located near the air inlet or control housing.
• Inspect wiring: Look for pinched or broken wires and ensure the sensor is firmly mounted.
• Reseat connectors: At the control board, unplug and replug the thermistor connector.

If the error persists, the thermistor should be replaced. If replacing the sensor does not clear the code, the main control board may be misreading the sensor and require replacement.
