Ice maker not making ice; ice bin empty or very low after 24–48 hours.

Safety: Turn off the ice maker and shut off the water supply before disconnecting any water lines.

• Check ice maker switch/arm: Ensure the ice maker is in the ON position and the bail arm (if present) is down.
• Verify water supply: Confirm the saddle valve or shutoff valve is fully open and the supply line is not kinked.
• Test fill: On many Maytag models, you can press and hold the ice maker test button to run a cycle; listen for water filling at the end.

If the ice maker cycles but does not fill, the water inlet valve may be faulty or the fill tube may be frozen. If it does not cycle at all, the ice maker assembly likely needs replacement.
