Possible Causes
Failed ambient thermistor, Disconnected sensor harness, Sensor shorted by moisture, Faulty connection on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before accessing control panels or wiring.
Steps:
- Locate ambient sensor: On many Midea models, the ambient sensor is near the front grille, behind the control panel, or in the top hinge area where wiring enters the cabinet.
- Visual inspection: Check for crushed wires, damage from rodents, or corrosion at connectors.
- Check resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the ambient thermistor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to typical NTC values (similar to other cabinet sensors). A reading of 0 ohms or infinite indicates a bad sensor.
- Reconnect or replace: Reseat the connector firmly. If the sensor is out of spec or damaged, replace it with a compatible Midea ambient thermistor.
- Test operation: Restore power and verify that the error clears and that the unit responds normally to room temperature changes.
