Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed switch or mechanical door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring, Faulty connection at control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the refrigerator before removing switch housings or door trims.
Steps:
- Identify the door switch type: Midea models may use a plunger-style mechanical switch in the frame or a magnetic reed switch hidden in the liner with a magnet in the door.
- Check operation: For plunger switches, press the switch by hand and see if the interior light turns on/off (with power connected briefly). For magnetic switches, move a magnet along the frame where the sensor is located and observe light/fan behavior.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the switch or trim cover and check for loose connectors or broken wires.
- Continuity test: With power unplugged, test the switch with a multimeter. It should open and close as the plunger is pressed or magnet is applied.
- Replace if defective: Install a new Midea-compatible door switch or sensor. Ensure the door magnet is present and properly aligned.
- Test: Restore power and verify that lights and fans respond correctly to door openings and that the E7 code clears.
