Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Loose fan motor connector, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the evaporator fan area.
Steps:
- Access the fan: Remove freezer shelves and the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator fan assembly.
- Check for ice blockage: Inspect the fan blades for ice buildup or foreign objects. If iced over, defrost the area with a hair dryer on low, keeping it moving.
- Spin test: With power still disconnected, gently spin the fan blades by hand. They should rotate freely without grinding or resistance.
- Inspect wiring: Check the fan motor connector and harness for loose connections or damage.
- Voltage test (advanced): With the unit powered and calling for cooling, carefully measure voltage at the fan connector (use extreme caution). If proper voltage is present but the fan does not run, the motor is defective.
- Replace fan motor: Remove mounting screws, disconnect the harness, and install a new Midea evaporator fan motor. Reassemble the panel and ensure the fan shroud is correctly positioned.
- Test: Restore power and verify that the fan runs and the E8 code clears.
