Possible Causes
Frozen water line in door, Faulty dispenser switch or lever, Defective water inlet valve (dispenser side), Child lock enabled on control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off the water supply and unplug the refrigerator before accessing valves or door wiring.
Steps:
- Check control lock: Ensure the dispenser is not locked via the control panel child lock feature.
- Test dispenser lever: Press the lever and listen for a humming sound from the water valve at the back. No sound suggests a switch or control issue.
- Inspect for frozen line: If the freezer door houses the dispenser, the water line inside the door may be frozen. Open and close the door several times and allow the unit to run at a slightly warmer freezer setting temporarily.
- Check inlet valve: At the back, locate the dual water inlet valve. Swap the electrical connectors between ice and water outputs briefly (if identical) to see if the valve coil is functional (advanced step).
- Replace faulty parts: Replace the dispenser switch, door wiring harness, or water inlet valve as needed.
