Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing internal components. Avoid using sharp tools near refrigerant lines.
Troubleshooting steps:
- Verify actual freezer temperature: Place a thermometer in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. Compare the reading to the display. A large discrepancy indicates a sensor issue.
- Inspect sensor location: The freezer sensor is typically mounted on the rear or side wall behind a small cover. Remove drawers and baskets, unclip the cover, and check for heavy frost or ice around the sensor. Defrost if necessary.
- Check wiring: Look for damaged insulation, pinched wires, or loose connectors leading from the sensor into the cabinet. Reseat any accessible connectors.
- Test the sensor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Miele specifications for the given temperature. Replace the sensor if readings are out of range or intermittent when the wire is gently flexed.
Note: If a new sensor does not clear F1, the main electronic control may be faulty and should be evaluated by a Miele service technician.
