Possible Causes
Failed compressor start relay/PTC, Open thermal overload on compressor, Defective compressor, Faulty main control not sending start signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the compressor area. Do not attempt to open sealed system.
Steps:
- Check for clicking: If you hear periodic clicks from the rear, the start device may be trying and failing to start the compressor.
- Inspect start device: Remove the cover on the compressor terminals and check the start relay/PTC for burn marks or rattling. Replace if suspect.
- Test compressor windings (advanced): With the start device removed, measure resistance between compressor terminals. Infinite or shorted readings indicate a bad compressor.
If a new start device does not restore operation, contact a Miele technician for compressor or control diagnosis.
