Possible Causes
Defective magnetic door switch or reed sensor, Misaligned door magnet, Broken wiring in door harness, Faulty input on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing trims or accessing wiring.
Steps:
- Identify door switch type: Many Neff fridges use a hidden magnetic reed switch in the cabinet frame and a magnet in the door, rather than a visible plunger switch.
- Test door response: With power on (no panels removed), open and close the door and observe the interior light and fan. If they do not respond, suspect the switch.
- Locate and inspect switch: After unplugging, remove the top or side trim where the switch is located. Check for damage or loose mounting.
- Magnet check: Ensure the door magnet strip is intact and not displaced. If the magnet is missing or damaged, the switch will not detect door closure.
- Electrical test: Test the reed switch for open/closed operation with a multimeter while moving a magnet near it. Replace if it does not change state.
- Reassemble: Fit a new Neff door switch or magnet as required, reassemble trims, and test operation.
