Possible Causes
Stuck air damper flap, Failed damper motor, Broken damper gear, Wiring fault between damper and PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power before removing interior panels.
Steps:
- Locate damper: On many Neff bottom-freezer models, the damper is in the upper rear of the fridge compartment, controlling cold air from the freezer.
- Remove cover: Unclip or unscrew the plastic cover to expose the damper assembly.
- Inspect flap: Check if the flap is jammed by ice, packaging, or debris. Clear any obstruction.
- Manual movement: Gently move the flap by hand (if possible). It should move smoothly.
- Electrical test: With power restored briefly and door switch closed, change temperature settings and listen for damper motor movement. If silent, unplug and test motor resistance and wiring continuity.
- Replace damper: If the motor is open or gears are stripped, replace the damper motor assembly with a genuine Neff part.
