Possible Causes

Loose or oxidized connector between UI and main PCB, Damaged UI ribbon cable, Faulty user interface board, Faulty main control board communication circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing the control panel or top cover.

Steps:

  • Access the UI board: On Neff fridges, the display/control panel is usually in the door or at the top front. Carefully unclip or unscrew the trim to access the board.
  • Check connectors: Inspect the ribbon cable and plug connectors for corrosion, bent pins, or looseness. Reseat all connectors firmly.
  • Inspect cable: Look for kinks, cuts, or crushed sections, especially where the cable passes through the door hinge area.
  • Clean contacts: If lightly oxidized, clean contacts with appropriate electronic contact cleaner and allow to dry fully.
  • Test operation: Reassemble, restore power, and see if E6 clears. If the error persists, either the UI board or main PCB may be faulty.
  • Board replacement: Replace the user interface board first (more common failure and easier). If a new UI does not resolve the issue, the main control board likely needs replacement by a technician.
