Possible Causes

Loose compressor harness connector, Failed compressor inverter module (on inverter models), Faulty PTC start relay (on conventional models), Faulty main control board compressor drive circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator. Work near the compressor and mains components only when power is disconnected.

Procedure:

  • Access compressor area: Remove the rear lower service panel to expose the compressor, start device, and wiring.
  • Check connections: Ensure the harness plug to the compressor or inverter module is fully seated and not heat-damaged.
  • Listen for compressor attempts: After reapplying power, listen for clicking or humming from the compressor area. Re-unplug before further work.
  • Test PTC relay (if fitted): Remove the start relay from the compressor and shake it gently; if it rattles or shows burn marks, replace it with a compatible Neff/Bosch-Siemens PTC relay.
  • Inverter models: If an inverter module is present, inspect for burn marks or bulging components. Inverter modules are not usually repairable and must be replaced as a unit.
  • Compressor check: Measure compressor winding resistances (advanced). If windings are open or shorted, the compressor is faulty and requires professional replacement.
