Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Broken fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power before accessing the freezer interior and fan assembly.
Steps:
- Access fan: Remove freezer drawers and the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator and fan housing.
- Check for ice build-up: Look for ice blocking the fan blades or housing. If present, perform a full manual defrost until all ice is gone. Do not force the fan.
- Spin test: With power still off, gently spin the fan blades by hand. They should rotate freely without grinding or stiffness.
- Electrical test: Reconnect power briefly and close the door switch (use caution, keep fingers clear). The fan should start after the compressor runs. If it does not, unplug again and test the fan motor for continuity and supply voltage (per wiring diagram).
- Replace fan motor: If the motor is open or seized, install a genuine Neff evaporator fan motor and reassemble the housing.
- PCB check: If the fan motor is good but never receives power, the main PCB fan driver may be faulty and require replacement by a technician.
