Possible Causes
Defective freezer thermistor, Broken thermistor lead wires, Connector not seated on main PCB, Corroded thermistor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working inside the freezer compartment.
- Step 1 – Access freezer thermistor: Remove freezer drawers and the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator area. The thermistor is usually clipped to the evaporator tubing or mounted on the liner wall.
- Step 2 – Visual inspection: Check that the thermistor capsule is not cracked or hanging loose. Inspect wiring for damage or ice pulling on the wires.
- Step 3 – Defrost if necessary: If the thermistor is encased in ice, gently defrost the area. Excessive ice may indicate a separate defrost issue.
- Step 4 – Electrical test: Measure resistance of the thermistor at a known temperature. Replace if readings are out of specification (open or shorted).
- Step 5 – Refit and test: Install a new Panasonic freezer thermistor if needed, secure it in the original position, reassemble panels, and restore power. Monitor if H22 clears.
