Possible Causes

Faulty ice room thermistor, Damaged sensor wiring in door, Loose connector at ice maker module, Moisture damage in ice compartment

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power and turn off the water supply before servicing the ice maker area.

  • Step 1 – Access ice compartment: Open the ice room door or remove the ice bucket to expose the ice maker assembly.
  • Step 2 – Locate thermistor: The ice room thermistor is often clipped to the ice room wall or near the ice maker housing. Inspect for physical damage or dislodging.
  • Step 3 – Check wiring through door: On models with ice in the door, flexing can damage the harness. Gently inspect the wire bundle at the door hinge for kinks or breaks.
  • Step 4 – Reseat connectors: Disconnect and reconnect the thermistor plug at the ice maker and at the main PCB if accessible.
  • Step 5 – Replace thermistor: If the sensor is cracked or tests open/short with a multimeter, replace it with the correct Panasonic ice room thermistor. Reassemble and restore power.
