Possible Causes
Defective water inlet valve coil, Clogged inlet screen, Low household water pressure, Frozen water line in door or cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator and close the water supply valve before working on the water system.
- Step 1 – Check water supply: Confirm the household shutoff valve is fully open and that water pressure is adequate (typically > 0.1 MPa). Test by disconnecting the line at the fridge and running into a bucket.
- Step 2 – Inspect inlet valve: Access the rear lower area where the water line connects. Remove the cover to expose the inlet valve. Check for kinks in tubing and clean the inlet screen if clogged.
- Step 3 – Frozen line check: Feel along the water line inside the freezer door or cabinet. If very hard and cold, the line may be frozen. Increase freezer temperature slightly and allow several hours to thaw.
- Step 4 – Valve replacement: If the valve coil is open (no continuity) or does not open when energized (requires electrical testing), replace the Panasonic water inlet valve assembly.
