Refrigerator display shows 1E or IE and beeps; cooling may stop or be erratic.

Safety first: You will not be working on live wiring for the basic reset, but always unplug the refrigerator before removing any panels.

Step 1 – Try a soft reset:

• Press and hold the Power Freeze and Power Cool buttons together for 8–10 seconds until the display chimes and resets.
• If the code clears and cooling resumes, monitor the unit for 24 hours.

Step 2 – Power cycle the refrigerator:

• Unplug the refrigerator (or switch off the dedicated breaker).
• Wait at least 5 minutes to allow the main PCB to discharge.
• Plug back in and check if the error returns.

Step 3 – Inspect wiring to the display and main PCB (advanced):

• Unplug the unit.
• Remove the upper rear access cover to expose the Main PCB.
• Check all wire harness connectors for the display and sensors; reseat any loose connectors.
• Look for burnt spots or swollen capacitors on the PCB. If present, the Main PCB should be replaced.

When to call a technician: If the 1E code returns immediately after reset and wiring looks intact, the fault is likely on the Main PCB or Display PCB, which should be diagnosed and replaced by a qualified technician.
