How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the freezer fan.
Step 1 – Confirm fan operation:
- After the unit has been running, open the freezer door and listen for the fan behind the rear panel.
- If silent or making grinding noises, proceed to inspection.
Step 2 – Access the freezer evaporator fan:
- Remove freezer drawers, shelves, and the ice bin if present.
- Remove screws securing the rear interior panel and pull it forward.
- Disconnect the fan connector.
Step 3 – Inspect and test the fan:
- Check for ice buildup around the fan; defrost carefully if needed.
- Spin the fan blade by hand to ensure it moves freely.
- Use a multimeter to check continuity of the Freezer Evaporator Fan Motor.
Step 4 – Replace the fan motor if defective:
- Remove mounting screws or clips holding the fan motor.
- Install the new fan motor, reconnect the harness, and reassemble the panel.
- Restore power and verify the error clears.
Note: If the fan is good but not powered, the Main PCB may be faulty and should be serviced by a technician.
