How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the ice room.
Step 1 – Listen for fan noise:
- Open the ice room and listen for a small fan running when the freezer is active.
- If silent or grinding, suspect the fan.
Step 2 – Access the ice maker fan:
- Remove the ice bucket and any covers.
- Remove screws securing the ice room panel and pull it out.
- Locate the Ice Maker Fan Motor.
Step 3 – Inspect and test:
- Check for frost or ice around the fan; defrost if necessary.
- Spin the fan blade by hand; it should move freely.
- Test the motor for continuity; replace if open.
Step 4 – Replace the fan motor:
- Install a new Ice Maker Fan Motor, reconnect wiring, and reassemble the ice room.
- Restore power and verify that 44E clears.
Note: If the fan is good but not powered, the Main PCB may be at fault and should be checked by a technician.
