Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing shelves or panels.
Step 1 – Reset and observe:
- Press and hold Power Freeze and Power Cool for 8–10 seconds to clear the code.
- If the code returns within a few hours, proceed to inspection.
Step 2 – Access the refrigerator evaporator cover:
- Remove food and shelves from the fresh food compartment.
- Remove the screws holding the rear interior panel (evaporator cover).
- Gently pull the panel forward; disconnect any fan or light connectors.
Step 3 – Inspect the defrost sensor:
- Locate the refrigerator defrost sensor clipped to the evaporator tubing.
- Check for heavy ice buildup; if present, defrost the evaporator with a hair dryer on low, keeping the heat moving and away from plastic parts.
- Inspect the sensor wiring for damage or loose connections.
Step 4 – Test/replace the sensor (advanced):
- With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from its harness.
- Use a multimeter to measure resistance; compare to Samsung specs (typically ~5–10 kΩ at room temperature).
- If readings are open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the Refrigerator Defrost Sensor.
Note: If a new sensor does not clear the error, the Main PCB may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
