How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before working on water components.
Step 1 – Inspect the ice bucket and ice maker:
- Remove the ice bucket and check for large clumps of ice or signs of overfilling.
- Look for water dripping from the ice maker area.
Step 2 – Check the fill tube:
- Locate the ice maker fill tube entering the ice maker.
- Check for ice blockage; thaw with a hair dryer on low if frozen.
Step 3 – Inspect the water inlet valve:
- Remove the rear lower access panel.
- Locate the Water Inlet Valve and the line feeding the ice maker.
- Check for leaks around fittings and valve body.
Step 4 – Replace faulty components:
- If the valve is leaking or stuck open, replace the Water Inlet Valve Assembly.
- If the ice maker overfills despite a good valve, replace the Ice Maker Assembly.
Note: After repairs, restore power and water, then monitor for 24 hours to ensure normal ice production and no leaks.
