Possible Causes
Loose condenser fan, Refrigerator not level, Items vibrating against interior walls, Worn compressor mounts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Step 1 – Identify noise source:
- Listen carefully to determine if the noise comes from inside, back, or bottom of the refrigerator.
Step 2 – Level the refrigerator:
- Use a bubble level on top of the unit.
- Adjust the front leveling legs so the refrigerator is slightly tilted back and does not rock.
Step 3 – Check interior items:
- Ensure glass bottles or containers are not touching each other or the walls.
- Rearrange items to reduce vibration.
Step 4 – Inspect condenser fan (back/bottom noise):
- Unplug the refrigerator and remove the rear lower access panel.
- Check the Condenser Fan Motor for debris or loose mounting.
- Tighten screws and remove any obstructions.
Step 5 – Compressor noise:
- Some humming and clicking is normal; loud knocking may indicate internal compressor issues.
- If noise is clearly from the compressor shell, contact a technician; compressor replacement is not a DIY repair.
