Possible Causes

Blocked defrost drain tube, Ice buildup in drain trough, Cracked drain pan, Misaligned drain tube

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing panels; water and electricity are a dangerous combination.

Step 1 – Locate the source of water:

  • Remove the toe grille and inspect under the refrigerator for water pooling.
  • Check the Drain Pan near the compressor for cracks or overflow.

Step 2 – Clear the defrost drain (common cause):

  • Inside the freezer, remove drawers and the rear interior panel.
  • Locate the drain hole at the bottom of the evaporator area.
  • If it is iced over, pour warm (not boiling) water into the drain until it flows freely to the pan below.
  • Use a flexible plastic tube or pipe cleaner to gently clear any blockage.

Step 3 – Inspect drain pan and tube:

  • From the rear, check that the drain tube is properly seated in the pan.
  • Replace a cracked Drain Pan if necessary.

Step 4 – Reassemble and monitor:

  • Reassemble panels, restore power, and monitor for leaks over several days.
