How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the compressor area. High voltage present when powered.
Steps:
- Check power and lights: Confirm interior lights and display work, indicating the unit has power.
- Listen for compressor: With the unit plugged in, listen at the back for humming or clicking. Repeated clicks without running suggest start device issues.
- Inspect start device: Remove the cover on the side of the compressor and inspect the start relay/PTC and overload. Look for burn marks or rattling pieces.
- Test compressor windings: With power off and start device removed, measure resistance between compressor terminals. Very high or zero readings indicate a bad compressor.
- Replace start device: If the compressor tests good, install a Sharp-compatible start relay/overload or inverter module as appropriate.
If the compressor still does not run or draws locked-rotor current, compressor replacement is required and must be done by a licensed refrigeration technician.
