Refrigerator display shows E0 and cooling performance is reduced or intermittent.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet before removing any panels or handling wiring. Do not work on live circuits.
Steps to check and address E0:
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes, then plug it back in. If E0 clears and does not return, it may have been a transient error.
- Locate the refrigerator sensor: Inside the fresh food compartment, find the small plastic cover or housing on the rear or side wall that contains the thermistor (temperature sensor). On many Sharp models this is clipped into the liner with a small plastic cover.
- Inspect the sensor and wiring: Remove the cover, gently pull out the sensor. Check for corrosion, broken insulation, or a loose connector. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Check resistance (if you have a multimeter): With the fridge unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the harness and measure resistance across the sensor leads. At room temperature (around 25°C / 77°F), most Sharp NTC sensors read roughly 5–10 kΩ. An open circuit (OL) or 0 Ω indicates a failed sensor.
- Replace the sensor if faulty: If readings are out of range or the sensor is physically damaged, replace it with a Sharp-compatible refrigerator compartment thermistor. Route the new sensor along the original path and secure it under the cover.
- Inspect main PCB connection: Access the main control board (usually at the rear behind a metal or plastic cover). Verify the refrigerator sensor connector is fully seated and not burnt or corroded.
If the error persists after sensor replacement and wiring checks, the main control board may be defective and should be diagnosed or replaced by a qualified technician.
