Possible Causes
Failed ice maker water inlet valve, Clogged inlet screen or water filter, Frozen fill tube to ice maker, Faulty ice maker module not energizing valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the household water supply before working on the water system.
Steps:
- Check water supply: Confirm the household shutoff valve is fully open and water pressure is adequate. Replace the Sharp-compatible water filter if it is old or clogged.
- Inspect the fill tube: In the freezer, locate the plastic fill tube above the ice maker. Check for ice blockage. If frozen, thaw it with warm air (hair dryer on low, at a safe distance) while protecting plastic parts.
- Test the inlet valve: At the rear bottom, locate the water inlet valve assembly. Disconnect the line to the ice maker and briefly energize the ice fill cycle (technician mode or manual test) to see if water flows. With power off, measure coil resistance; an open coil indicates a bad valve.
- Replace the valve if faulty: Install a Sharp-compatible dual or triple water inlet valve assembly as used on your model. Reconnect water lines securely and check for leaks.
- Check ice maker module: If the valve is good and the tube is clear, the ice maker module may not be sending a fill signal and may need replacement.
After repairs, restore power and water, then allow several hours for the ice maker to cycle and confirm E10 is cleared.
