Possible Causes
Failed ice maker motor, Broken ice maker gear or ejector mechanism, Faulty position sensor or switch, Loose harness connection to ice maker
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing the ice maker assembly.
Steps:
- Inspect the ice maker: Remove the ice bin and visually inspect the ice maker for jammed cubes, broken plastic parts, or ice bridging.
- Clear jams: Gently remove any stuck ice with a plastic tool. Do not use metal tools that can damage the mold.
- Check harness: Ensure the ice maker’s electrical connector is fully seated and free of corrosion.
- Test the motor (if accessible): Some Sharp ice makers allow manual test mode. Activate the test cycle (per service manual) and observe if the motor turns. If it hums or does nothing, the motor or module is likely bad.
- Replace the ice maker assembly: If mechanical damage or motor failure is evident, replace the complete Sharp-compatible ice maker assembly for your model.
If E11 persists with a new ice maker, the main control board or wiring may be at fault and should be checked by a technician.
