Display shows E17 and the refrigerator may not switch correctly between different cooling zones (e.g., multi-zone drawer).

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing interior panels or drawers.

Steps:

• Locate the damper: In Sharp multi-door models, the damper is often behind a cover between the freezer and refrigerator or near the convertible drawer.
• Listen for operation: When changing temperature settings, you may hear the damper motor move. If silent or clicking repeatedly, suspect a fault.
• Inspect the damper assembly: Remove the cover and check for broken plastic gears or a jammed flap.
• Test the motor: With power off, disconnect the damper motor and measure coil resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
• Replace the damper assembly: Install a Sharp-compatible air damper or multi-zone valve assembly, ensuring proper sealing and alignment.

If E17 persists after damper replacement, the control board output to the damper may be defective and should be checked by a technician.
