Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring harness, Faulty door sensor input on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before testing switches or removing trims.
Steps:
- Identify the door switch type: Sharp refrigerators may use a plunger-style switch in the frame or a hidden magnetic reed switch with a magnet in the door.
- Test the switch: For plunger switches, press the switch in and out while checking interior lights and listening for fan changes (with power on briefly, then unplug again). For magnetic switches, move a magnet near the sensor area to see if the light turns off.
- Check continuity: With power off, remove the switch or access the sensor and test continuity with a multimeter while actuating it. It should open and close reliably.
- Inspect wiring: Look for broken or pinched wires around the door frame and hinge area.
- Replace faulty components: Install a Sharp-compatible door switch or sensor and ensure the door magnet (if used) is correctly positioned.
If E6 remains after switch and wiring replacement, the main control board’s door input circuit may be defective and require professional service.
