Possible Causes
Faulty door switch or reed sensor, Weak or missing door magnet, Misaligned door causing poor sensor activation, Wiring fault to door sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before working on door sensors or wiring.
Steps:
- 1. Check door closure: Ensure nothing is obstructing the door and that shelves or containers are not preventing full closure.
- 2. Inspect gasket and hinges: Adjust hinges and replace gaskets if the door does not sit flush.
- 3. Test sensor: For mechanical switches, press manually and observe if the alarm stops (after restoring power briefly). For reed sensors, move a magnet near the sensor location to see if the alarm clears.
- 4. Replace faulty components: Install a new door switch, reed sensor, or magnet as needed.
- 5. Wiring check: If the problem persists, inspect wiring from the sensor to the main PCB for continuity and damage.
Note: Some models allow temporary muting of the alarm via the control panel, but the underlying fault should still be corrected.
