Possible Causes
Failed dual water inlet valve, Blocked inlet filter or mesh screen, Faulty flow meter (on models with flow sensor), Kinked or frozen water line inside door
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and close the household water supply valve before disconnecting any water lines.
Steps:
- 1. Check water supply: Ensure the household shut-off valve is fully open and that water pressure is adequate. Test by disconnecting the line at the refrigerator and briefly opening the valve into a bucket.
- 2. Inspect inlet valve: The Siemens water inlet valve is usually located at the rear bottom. Remove the rear cover and inspect for leaks or damage.
- 3. Clean inlet screens: Turn off water, disconnect the inlet hose, and check the small mesh filter in the valve. Clean any debris with a soft brush.
- 4. Test valve coils: With the unit unplugged, measure resistance of the valve solenoids. An open coil indicates a failed valve that must be replaced.
- 5. Check for frozen lines: On models with water in the door, a frozen line in the door can trigger E14. Increase refrigerator temperature slightly and leave door closed for several hours to thaw, or use manufacturer-approved thawing methods.
- 6. Replace valve or flow sensor: If the valve or flow meter is defective, install the correct Siemens replacement part and check for leaks after reassembly.
Warning: Always check for leaks after working on water connections. Use new sealing washers where required.
