Possible Causes
Failed ice maker module motor, Jammed ice cubes in mold, Faulty ice level or position sensor, Broken ice maker wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before working on the ice maker assembly.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect ice bin and mold: Remove the ice bin and check for clumped ice or cubes stuck in the mold. Clear any obstructions.
- 2. Check water supply to ice maker: Ensure the ice maker is receiving water (no frozen fill tube). If the fill tube is iced over, thaw it gently with warm air.
- 3. Access ice maker module: Remove the ice maker cover to expose the motor and gears. Look for broken plastic parts or stripped gears.
- 4. Test motor and sensors: Advanced users can test motor resistance and sensor outputs per Siemens service documentation. A non-rotating motor with correct voltage indicates a failed motor/module.
- 5. Replace ice maker assembly: In many Siemens models, the ice maker is replaced as a complete module. Disconnect wiring, remove mounting screws, and install the new assembly.
Note: After replacement, allow up to 24 hours for normal ice production to resume.
