Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring, Faulty input circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing any trims or switch housings.
Steps:
- 1. Locate door switch or sensor: Siemens refrigerators may use mechanical plunger switches or hidden magnetic reed sensors in the cabinet frame.
- 2. Test operation: For plunger switches, press the switch manually and listen for a click; check if lights respond when power is restored. For reed sensors, move a magnet near the sensor location and observe light behavior.
- 3. Inspect magnet alignment: Ensure the magnet in the door gasket or trim aligns with the sensor when the door is closed. Adjust gasket or trim if necessary.
- 4. Check wiring: Remove the switch housing and inspect wiring for breaks or loose connectors.
- 5. Replace faulty switch/sensor: Install a new Siemens-compatible door switch or reed sensor if defective.
Tip: A faulty door sensor can also cause temperature issues because the control may think the door is always open.
