Possible Causes

Loose or damaged ribbon cable between UI and main PCB, Failed user interface board, Oxidized connectors at top door hinge (for door-mounted displays), Moisture damage behind control panel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing the control panel or hinge covers.

Procedure:

  • 1. Inspect door hinge area: For models with display in the door, remove the top hinge cover and check the wiring harness for pinched or broken wires.
  • 2. Access the UI board: Remove the front control panel or display housing. Carefully release plastic clips to avoid breaking the trim.
  • 3. Check connectors: Reseat the ribbon cable or plug connectors between the UI and the main harness. Clean any visible oxidation with contact cleaner and a soft brush.
  • 4. Look for moisture: Condensation can damage the UI. If moisture is present, dry the area thoroughly and improve door seal contact if needed.
  • 5. Test operation: Reassemble, restore power, and check if E7 clears. If the error persists, the UI board or main PCB may be defective.
  • 6. Replace faulty board: Replace the user interface module first (typically easier and cheaper). If replacing the UI does not resolve the issue, the main control board may also require replacement.

Note: Handle display boards by the edges to avoid static damage.
