Possible Causes
Blocked ice maker fill tube, Frozen fill line in freezer, Failed ice maker water valve section, Faulty ice maker control module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before servicing the ice maker.
E13 indicates that the ice maker did not receive water during a fill cycle.
- Step 1 – Inspect fill tube: Remove the ice bucket and look at the plastic fill tube above the ice maker. Check for ice blockage at the outlet.
- Step 2 – Thaw blockage: Use a hair dryer on a low setting to gently warm the fill tube until any ice plug melts. Do not overheat plastic parts.
- Step 3 – Check water pressure: Ensure the household water supply is on and that the filter is not clogged.
- Step 4 – Test ice maker valve: At the rear, locate the dual or triple water inlet valve. The section feeding the ice maker may have failed. Test coil resistance and replace the valve assembly if the coil is open or the valve is stuck.
- Step 5 – Ice maker module: If water reaches the ice maker but it still does not cycle, the ice maker control module may be defective and should be replaced as a complete assembly.
