Display shows E7 and the ice maker or water dispenser may not function correctly (on models with ice/water).

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before working on the ice maker or dispenser.

E7 on SMEG side-by-side or French-door models often relates to the ice maker or dispenser mechanism.

• Step 1 – Check for ice jams: Remove the ice bucket and inspect the auger and ice maker for clumped or oversized ice blocking movement. Clear any obstructions.
• Step 2 – Inspect harness: On models with ice in the door, gently flex the door wiring harness area while looking for cracked insulation or broken wires where the harness bends.
• Step 3 – Reset ice maker: Some SMEG ice makers have a reset/test button. With power restored, press and hold as per the user manual to run a test cycle. If E7 reappears, continue.
• Step 4 – Check motor and sensor connections: With power off, remove the ice maker cover and verify that all connectors to the motor and position sensor are firmly seated.
• Step 5 – Replace faulty assembly: If the motor is seized or the sensor tests open, replace the ice maker assembly or dispenser motor module with the correct SMEG part.
• Step 6 – Professional diagnosis: If wiring and ice maker are good, the dispenser control PCB or main PCB may be at fault and should be checked by a technician.
