Possible Causes
Loose compressor mounting bolts, Refrigerant lines touching cabinet or each other, Loose components in compressor compartment, Shipping bolts not removed on new unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before adjusting components at the rear.
- Step 1 – Check shipping hardware: On a new SMEG refrigerator, ensure all transport brackets and bolts have been removed according to the installation manual.
- Step 2 – Tighten mounts: Inspect compressor mounting bolts and rubber grommets. Tighten loose bolts gently; do not overtighten.
- Step 3 – Isolate tubing: Gently bend refrigerant lines away from each other and from the cabinet so they do not touch and vibrate. Do not kink or sharply bend the tubes.
- Step 4 – Secure loose parts: Ensure the rear cover and drip tray are firmly attached and not rattling.
