Possible Causes

Failed magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken or pinched door switch wiring, Faulty control board door input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing trim or switch housings. Use care not to damage door gaskets.

Step 1 – Check door operation

  • Open and close the affected door while observing interior lights and the door‑open indicator.
  • If lights stay on when the door is closed, or the door alarm sounds continuously, the door switch may not be registering.

Step 2 – Inspect door switch and magnet

  • Locate the door switch (often in the ceiling or side wall of the compartment) and the corresponding magnet in the door frame.
  • Ensure the magnet is present, not loose, and aligned with the switch location.
  • Check for physical damage or moisture intrusion around the switch.

Step 3 – Test the door switch

  • With power off, remove the switch from the liner carefully.
  • Disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while activating it (or bringing a magnet close, for reed switches). It should change state (open/closed) when activated.
  • If it does not change, replace the door switch.

Step 4 – Inspect wiring

  • Check the harness from the switch to the control board for pinched or broken wires, especially near hinge areas.
  • Repair or replace damaged wiring as needed.

When to call a professional: If the switch and wiring test good but EC70 persists, the main control board may not be reading the input correctly and should be evaluated by a Sub‑Zero technician.
