How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and water supply before working on the ice maker.

Step 1 – Check ice bin and sensor

  • Ensure the ice bin is properly installed and not overfilled.
  • Clean the ice level sensor or shutoff arm area of any ice buildup.

Step 2 – Inspect fill tube

  • Locate the ice maker fill tube at the back of the ice maker.
  • If it is blocked with ice, thaw it with a hair dryer on low and check for slow leaks that refreeze.

Step 3 – Force cycle ice maker

  • Some Sub‑Zero ice makers can be manually cycled via a test button or jumper; consult the tech sheet.
  • If the ice maker does not move through a harvest cycle, replace the ice maker assembly.

Step 4 – Test ice maker valve coil

  • At the dual water inlet valve, test the resistance of the ice maker coil and compare to spec.
  • If open or out of range, replace the valve.
